Musselwhite Mine is a fly-in fly-out, 4,000 tonne per day underground gold producer. The mine is situated in Northwestern Ontario, Canada and is owned and operated by Goldcorp Canada Ltd. The property consists of a combination of leases and mining claim units covering a total area of 17,548 hectares.
The Mine site is located on the southern shore of Lake Opapimiskan, 480 kilometres by air north of Thunder Bay, Ontario. The nearest town, Pickle Lake, is 103 kilometres by air to the south.
The mine is located on traditional First Nation land, and Musselwhite’s relationships and agreements with the local communities are recognized as a leader in First Nations relationships.
Musselwhite has established an innovative agreement with the First Nation people which provides for a range of education, training, employment and business related services for local communities.
To ensure a sustainable future for our employees, we balance and align our strengths including our people, our partnerships and our reserves to safely manage future growth of production and margins.
In 2006, exploration drilling completed a 2,430 meter mother hole and two daughter holes on the North Shore of Opapimiskan Lake.
Exploration continues to obtain excellent results form the PQ Deeps and will continue the mine's development in 2007 in this area focusing on extending to existing PQ Deeps resources and converting the existing Inferred Mineral Resources to Mineral Reserves.
Wholly owned and operated by Goldcorp as of 2007, Musselwhite began its commercial production on April 1st, 1997 and by 2001 had poured its one millionth ounce. Today, Musselwhite Mine's cumulative production exceeds 1.7 million ounces.
With existing mineral reserves, Musselwhite has an expected mine life through to 2013. The area also has excellent exploration potential which may further extend the life of the mine.
The mine employs approximately 450 employees and contractors, with Wasaya Airways providing air transport and camp services.

480 KM by air north of Thunder Bay, the nearest town is Pickle Lake.
Approximately 150 kilometres north of Pickle Lake a 43 kilometre all-weather road leads to the mine site.
